Service

As a scholar who values interdisciplinary research and teaching, I see my service commitments as opportunities to collaborate and learn from the disciplinary and community cross-pollinations that can emerge in these new spaces of potential coalition.

Spotlight: Inclusive Gaming
CRUX Labs, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Spring 2018–present

Guided by graduate and undergraduate student interests and concerns, I founded Inclusive Gaming as a place to play and critique video games from feminist, queer, and intersectional perspectives. The group works to raise consciousness around current issues in gaming as well as our own personal connections to the games we play. Since spring 2018, Inclusive Gaming has met in the CRUX gaming lab at least once a month, and student, faculty, and staff interest has grown ever since. During the fall 2018 semester, the group expressed interest in building stronger relationships with communities beyond the university, and in spring 2019 we participated in Diversity Week events and also worked together to host a charity streaming event benefitting Lucie’s Place, a local nonprofit that supports LGBTQ+ young people experiencing homelessness in central Arkansas.
